Singapore Society of Oncology-Concept Development Workshop in conjunction with The Australia & Asia Pacific Clinical Oncology Research Development (ACORD) Workshop*

The Society of Oncology (SSO) is organising the Singapore Society of Oncology Concept Development Workshop on 4th July 2019 in conjunction with the Australia & Asia Pacific Clinical OncologyResearch Development (ACORD) Workshop.

Held on the eve of SSO's annual Best of ASCO event, this workshop is targeted at junior oncology clinicians from the South East Asia region.

The key aim of this 1-day workshop is to help early career researchers turn their new ideas for cancer clinical research studies into persuasive 1-page concept outlines. Concept outlines are an ideal starting point for writing study protocols, letters of intent to industry, or grant applications to funding bodies. Participants will be encouraged to submit their completed concept outlines as part of an application to attend the next 6-day ACORD Workshop scheduled for September 2020 in Australia.

The ACORD Workshop is the regional equivalent of the Vail (American Society for Clinical Research) and Zeist (European Society for Medical Oncology) workshops on Methods in Clinical Cancer Research. It provides training in clinical trials research methods for junior oncology clinicians from Australia, New Zealand and the wider Asia-Pacific. The participants and faculty come from diverse backgrounds and aim to provide a truly global perspective on cancer clinical research.

Registration is free, and foreign participants will receive a travel stipend of up to S$500 to cover nominal travel expenses.

Applicants ideally should:

 (1)    have less than 7 years of working experience after getting their specialist certificate, or a specialist trainee who will be completing their specialist training in 2 years time.

(2)    provide a short descriptive title for their proposed cancer clinical research study (30 words or less)

Application closed on 15 April.  All successful applicants will be notified in writing.
