BASCO 2019

Singapore Society of Oncology (SSO) is proud and delighted to host Best of ASCO, 5-7 July 2019, for the 5th year running.

We bring you the highlights of the ASCO Annual Meeting (31 May – 4 June 2019), as well as the opportunity for discussion with ASCO Faculty. This year, in conjunction with SSO, important meetings precede and postcede Best of ASCO: Australia & Asia Pacific Clinical Oncology.

Research Development (SSO-ACORD) is holding a Trial Concept Development Workshop on 4 July, and the Cancer Immunotherapy Consortium (SSO-CIC) is convening a meeting on  7 July.

This densely-packed program ensures that attendees are able to maximise the use of their time in Singapore.

SSO is committed to providing the platform for continual education in advancing clinical care for our cancer patients.

We wish one and all a fruitful and enjoyable time.

As oncology care evolves and becomes more complex, it becomes more challenging for cancer care professionals to keep abreast of the latest oncology developments. SSO continues to play a vital role in the continual education of cancer care professionals. We strive to be an accessible platform for oncology-related updates, leading to improvements in the delivery of cancer care in Singapore.

2018 was a busy year. In addition to a packed calendar of regular educational meetings, we hosted Best of ASCO, highlighting the latest updates from the ASCO Annual Meeting. We convened the inaugural SSO – Cancer Immunotherapy Consortium (SSO-CIC) Symposium in September 2018. The SSO-CIC was formed to bring together the community of cancer immunotherapy enthusiasts in Singapore, to foster collaborations and to educate each other on the latest cancer immunotherapy. In partnership with ESMO, the ESMO Asia Congress was held successfully in Singapore for the 4th year running and was an opportunity to meet up with old friends and make new friends.

In 2019, we have several new initiatives to look forward to. The 1st SSO Medical Oncology Review Course will be held from 25-27 January 2019. Interest in this inaugural course has been overwhelming. Later in July, we look forward to the SSO Annual Scientific Meeting and Best of ASCO, which are held in conjunction with the 2nd SSO-CIC Symposium and an ACORD supported Clinical Trial Concept Development Workshop.

Through our friendships with many overseas oncology societies, we hope to build bridges for collaboration and mutual support, and thus contribute to continuing oncology education regionally.

SSO is always looking for ways to improve its services and its reach to meet the needs of the oncology community in Singapore and we are always open for suggestions. We look ahead to an exciting 2019 and wish all members a fulfilling and healthy 2019!
